[New Music] The xx – “Chained”

As The xx slowly near to the release of their sophomore album Coexist, we get the second release of the album titled “Chained.” While many speculated if the band could ever create something as beautifully-grim as their debut album XX, their first release “Angels” has been strongly reinforced by “Chained.” With so many satisfying sound textures being produced in their music, The xx create an atmosphere for their music that truly is remarkable and unique.

In a recent interview with SPIN, singer Madley Croft spoke on the writing process that went into “Chained”:

“Oliver and I just wrote together in a room,” she recalls. “I playing keyboard in the basement and we just wrote, it just kind of happened. And we discussed the song, and it grew in interesting ways that never have existed if we’d written solely through e-mail. When we came to Jamie and played it to him live, he started playing along and brought a rhythmic twist that I would have never have thought of. It really happened very organically.”
